She entered the hearts of millions of people across the world with her witty, humorous, and clever television persona on the hit sitcom, "The Golden Girls".According to the Associated Press, Estelle Getty "Sophia" passed away at 5:30 a.m. today at her Hollywood Boulevard home, according to her son. She was 84 and had suffered with advanced dementia.
Estelle spent 40 years on the journey to success before landing the role as "Sophia" in 1985. She will always be remembered for her sarcastic character on the show, her huge fan base, and her talent. We will miss you Sophia!*Tear*
